My favorite sidedish !

Yes...especially when you eat this with warm rice, by using your bare hand. Mmmm.... nothing compares to that ! I can say this is one of my comfort food. Remind me of my mom, home, rural atmosphere, paddy field, serenity (stop, before I digress any further !)

This is a kind of dish that can increase my appetite only by looking at it ! I put it in my menu list, our family favorite dish. Easy, heavenly delicious and cheap ! :) Take a look at the recipe and have a nice try.

It's funny, I usually eat it with rice which contains carbohydrate, while corn is carbohydrate as well. Just watched ads from TV about carbo-diet, let's forget it for while okay ! Because it's simply savory.

(Homemade) Tumis jagung-cumi asin / Sweet corn with salted squid stir fry

Tumis jagung - cumi asin / Sweet corn with salted squid stir fry

Ingredients :

- 5 sweet corn on the cob, remove sweet corn kernels from the cob
- 250 gr dried and salted squid, soaked in hot water for a while then remove from water, chopped
- 4 red onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 3 fresh chilies, chopped
- 2 stalks of green onion, chopped
- 1 cm of laos / galangal, mashed
- 2 salam leaves / laurellike leaves
- salt and sugar to taste
- petai
- 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 150 cc water

How to :

1. Heat the oil in a wok over medium heat. Add in red onion, garlic and chilies until fragrant. Add galangal, petai and salam leaves. Stir well.
2. Add dried and salted squid, stir together to mix.
3. Add sweet corn, mix well for 1 minute.
4. Pour the water to the wok, add salt and sugar (not too much !). Stir for a while, wait until the corn wilted.
5. Stir once more and taste. Add green onion. Stir well.
6. Serve immediately.

Bahasa Indonesia

Bahan-bahan :

- 5 bonggol jagung manis, pipil bijinya dengan menggunakan pisau
- 250 gr cumi asin kering, rendam dengan air panas sebentar, buang airnya, lalu iris-iris.
- 4 siung bawang merah, iris-iris
- 2 siung bawang putih, iris-iris
- 3 buah cabe merah keriting, iris-iris
- 2 batang daun bawang, iris-iris
- 1 cm laos, memarkan
- 2 lembar daun salam
- garam dan gula pasir sebagai perasa
- petai (kalau doyan, buat aroma juga mantap kok !)
- 2 sdm minyak goreng
- 400 cc air

Cara :

1. Panaskan minyak goreng lalu tumis bawang merah, bawang putih dan cabe sampai harum. Tambahkan laos, pete dan daun salam.
2. Masukkan cumi asin, aduk rata.
3. Masukkan jagung yang sudah dipipil, aduk-aduk rata.
4. Tuangkan air, tambahkan garam dan gula pasir. Aduk rata. Biarkan hingga air sisa sedikit dan jagung matang.
5. Koreksi rasanya, lalu taburi irisan daun bawang. Aduk lagi.
6. Siap dihidangkan.

Celebration of love

It was my cousin's wedding.

I really enjoy the sacred marriage covenant, when a man and a woman who desire to make their vows. Reminds me of myself and hubby, almost 9 years ago. :) Promised to look after each other and to love until the end of life. I can tell you, I prefer to come to the marriage covenant ceremony than to the marriage feast. Yes, marriage is a celebration of love !

Love and chocolate are inseparable two things. Some people say "show your love with chocolate", and also you can see chocolate everywhere when February comes (because some people say "February is a month of love"). As for myself, I cook something with chocolate only to fulfill my love of chocolate :D (that's one way to show how much I love myself, lol)

(Homemade) Chocolate Cheese Brownies

I never get bored to make brownies, different kind of brownies. Again, I try another version of brownies from Anne Vijaya. You really have to try this one !! I like the way this brownie melt in my mouth, yum ... ! The cheese layer on top of the chocolate layer add a sensational taste to this brownies.

Chocolate cheese brownies

Ingredients :

- 250 gr unsalted butter
- 200 gr dark cooking chocolate, broken up
- 80 gr cocoa powder, sifted
- 65 gr plain flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 250 gr caster sugar
- 4 large eggs

Cream cheese layer :
- 150 gr cream cheese
- 1 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar

How to :

1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 350°F. Grease 1 25 cm square baking tin tray with butter then line with greaseproof paper.
2. In a large bowl over some simmering water, melt the butter and the chocolate and mix until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar, then add this to the chocolate mixture. Stir together well. Beat the eggs and mix in until you have a silky consistency. Remove 1/2 cup of the brownie batter and set aside.
4. Pour the remainder of your brownie mix into the baking tray. Set aside.
5. In a different bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth, add in egg and sugar, mix well just until creamy and smooth.
6. Spread cream cheese batter evenly over the brownie layer. Spoon small dollops of the reserved brownie batter evenly on top of the cream cheese filling. Then with a table knife or wooden skewer, swirl the two batter without mixing them.

7. Place in the oven around 25 minutes. The brownie should be slightly springy on the outside but still gooey in the middle.
8. Allow to cool in the tray, then carefully transfer to a large chopping board and cut into chunky squares.


(Homemade) Chocolate cheese brownies

Bahasa Indonesia

Bahan :

- 250 gr mentega tawar
- 200 gr dark cooking chocolate
- 80 gr bubuk cocoa, ayak
- 65 gr tepung terigu, ayak
- 1 sdt baking powder, ayak
- 250 gula halus
- 4 butir telur ukuran besar

Cream cheese :

- 150 gr cream cheese (suhu ruang)
- 2 sdm gula pasir
- 1 butir telur

Cara :

1. Panaskan oven dengan suhu 180°C/ 350°F. Oles tipis loyang ukuran 25 cm dengan mentaga sampai rata lalu alasi dengan kertas minyak.
2. Cairkan mentega dan coklat di dalam mangkok yang diletakan di atas panci berisi air dengan api kecil. Aduk sampai rata. Sisihkan.
3. Campur bubuk cocoa, tepung terigu dan baking powder yang sudah diayak. Masukan ke adonan coklat leleh. Aduk rata. Masukan telur dan aduk sampai lembut. Sisihkan 1/2 cup adonan.
4. Tuang sisa adonan brownie ke dalam loyang. Sisihkan.
5. Gunakan mangkok lain, kocok cream cheese sampai lembut. Tambahkan telur dan gula pasir, kocok sampai rata dan lembut.
6. Tuang adonan cream cheese ke loyang di atas adonan coklat secara merata. Sendokkan adonan coklat 1/2 cup secara acak di atas adonan cream cheese. Buat guratan-guratan dengan menggunakan pisau atau sendok kayu (jangan tercampur semua)
7. Masukan oven dan panggang selama 25 menit. Keluarkan dari oven.
8. Dinginkan terlebih dahulu sebelum dikeluarkan dari cetakan.

Rasanya enak sekali, coklatnya agak lumer-lumer di bagian tengahnya. Selamat mencoba !

Fried bee hoon / Bihun goreng

This is one of my favorite dish ever ! Easy to make, delicious, cheap and you could eat it as a snack !!! Ooopppsss :)

(Homemade) Bihun Goreng / Fried Bee Hoon

Bee hoon or bihun are rice vermicelli or thin noodles made from rice. You can make lots of variation of bee hoon. Fried or boiled, up to you ! You can fry it with whatever you have on hand. Bee hoon is very handy for you to keep in your pantry. Whenever you want to snack something, bee hoon might be the one you cook easily in your own kitchen.

Before you start frying the bee hoon, make sure prepare all the ingredients and have them ready to go before hand. Because frying bee hoon is a fast work, you don't have time to chop something while you cook.

I got this recipe from an old magazine. It has lots of yummy recipe of noodles. I'll post the other recipe right after I try them in my kitchen (and of course take the picture of them). So, check out the recipe and have a nice try !

Fried bee hoon / Bihun goreng

Ingredients :
- 200 gr bee hoon, soaked in warm water for 15 minutes, drain and set aside.
- 150 gr chicken breast, sliced thin
- 5 fish balls, sliced
- 2 eggs, whisked
- 200 gr cabbage, sliced
- 1/2 carrot, slice into match stick
- 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper
- 2 stalks of green onion, chopped
- 5 stalks of mustard greens, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 table spoons of sweet soy sauce
- salt
- granulated sugar
- 3 table spoons of vegetable oil

How to:

1. Heat oil on medium in a wok and fry garlic till fragrant. Add chicken and fish balls. Stir until turn just opaque.
2. Add beaten eggs, fry for a while.
3. Add cabbage, mustard greens and green onion to the pan. Stir well.
4. Add vermicelli and continue to stir-fry. Stir in dark soy sauce, salt, sugar and white pepper (adjust seasoning according to taste). Toss to mix well.
5. Dish up and garnish with fried onion.


Bahasa Indonesia

Bahan :
- 200 gr bihun, rendam air hangat sampai mekar (15 menit), tiriskan
- 150 gr daging ayam, potong kotak-kotak
- 5 buah bakso ikan
- 2 telur, kocok lepas
- 200 gr kol, iris
- 1/2 wortel, diiris seukuran batang korek api
- 1/2 sdm bubuk merica
- 2 tangkai daun bawang, iris
- 5 batang sawi hijau, iris
- 3 siung bawang putih, haluskan
- 2 sdm kecap manis
- garam
- gula pasir
- minyak goreng

Cara :

1. Tumis bawang putih sampai harum. Masukan daging ayam dan bakso. Aduk sampai masak.
2. Masukan telur. Aduk sampai telur masak.
3. Masukan kol, sawi dan daun bawang. Aduk-aduk sampai semua matang.
4. Masukan bihun. Tambahkan kecap manis, garam dan merica. Aduk sampai rata dan panas. Koreksi rasanya.
5. Hidangkan dengan taburan bawang merah goreng.
